We have so enjoyed having the Ayaz family dwell on Leland Street.
Tony and Ayaz have been an integral part of all our neighborhood events and we have enjoyed watching their daughters, Ariana and Sophia grow up.
There were two news flashes from Tony and Nicole Ayaz this spring. The first was the announcement that Nicole was surprised to learn she was expecting a baby, the second was their decision to move back to Southern California. They felt a strong pull from west coast family members beckoning them back to Palos Verdes. Just one week before their departure, Bonnie, Vicky and Marcy brought the Ladies of Leland Street together in celebration of the upcoming birth with a baby shower for Nicole.
The event was held in Vicky’s beautiful home, Bonnie prepared a lovely buffet and the petit fours and cookies were designed, baked and decorated by Annie and Claire Bateman.
A very important guest at the party was Nicole’s dear friend/Tony’s niece Sana who shared her amusing recollection of the day Nicole found out she was pregnant. Members of Nicole’s book club also attended.
The Ayaz family moved to California just one week later and shortly thereafter, Alexandria Leila Ayaz was welcomed into the world.
Welcome to New Neighbors:
Laurie Mignone and Joel Parriott and young Jake The Parriott family moved onto Leland Street in the midst of the deep dig that has been going on for weeks along Leland Street. The Parriotts came from Cleveland Park with their 16 month old son, Jake. Laurie grew up in Connecticut and Joel in Minnesota, and say they look forward to Jake growing up on Leland Street. Laurie works for the House of Representatives, Committee on Appropriations and Joel for the American Astronomical Society. “We're grateful for the warm welcome from our new neighbors!”
Graduation ~ Congratulations!
It has been a wonderful spring at the Taplin~Delancy home.
Vicky and Ben enjoyed all the exciting happenings that were part of Paul’s senior year at Bethesda Chevy Chase High School...college acceptance packets arriving on their doorstep, prom night photo fest in front of their home, all leading up to the graduation ceremony. Paul has decided upon Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Even in a line up of handsome young men, it is easy to spot Paul in the crowd.
Spring Break Get A Way!
Spring break lured the Simpson~Payne family to a favorite island resort. They found plenty to do between sip and zip and surf and sun.
Summer Vacations Here, There and Anywhere!
The summer fun begins as soon as the last release bell of school sounds. The weeks of camps, summer activities, beaches, pools, sports, friends and family fun await, whether it involves packing a suitcase and heading for far away places or fun in your own backyard. The children of Leland Street always have a super summer break.
Like many neighborhood children, Liam found out it is a quick trip from entry to exit on the slide at CCRA.
Liam enjoys a wide range of summer fun whether he is on the fairway or dashing through a sprinkler on his own front lawn.
Peter and Mark enjoy Brookside Gardens
Matthew and Ryan enjoyed many of the Bethesda Big Train Baseball games, Ryan loves their mascots, Homer and Bunt. Matthew can be found at Falls Road Golf Camp or with best buddy at the Home Run Baseball camp.
Ryan is a great helper with a grocery cart and with washing the aligator at the Bearhouse Pool. Both Ryan and Matthew have had a lot of fun at CCRA
Summertime for the Forrest family means Stay~cation. We like our travel experiences in the the cooler months...but summer time means immersion in the Bearhouse Pool.
We have a lot of friends who come to splash and some of the best times of all are with grandson Max.
A good way to beat the summer heat is to head for the galleries of a cool museum. Sometimes that means hopping on the Vamoose bus northbound for NYC. Marcy met her sister, Sheila at the Museum of the City of New York to view the Stephen Burrows costume exhibition. Marcy has a few lettuce edged Burrows deep in her closet...Nicole once borrowed one for a Halloween costume as Frida Kahlo.
Bad Luck and Good Luck:
Arthur tripped over some boxes in a parking lot and the results was five stitches...that was bad luck...the good luck is living next door to a caring neighbor...Five days later, Vike removed Arthur’s stitches in the comfort of his own home.
Leland Street neighbors have seen just about every kind of truck imaginable on our street this summer as weeks and weeks of improvements have been done on our block The work has meant no access to the street or individual driveways. The improvements are almost complete. We all appreciate the improved appearance and once again peace and quiet on our summer mornings.
The Ayaz home on Leland Street is still available for purchase. If anyone knows of someone looking for a home in a wonderful neighborhood...let them know a home with a sensational backyard is still available for purchase.
